Historically, the Moro people of Mindanao fought against the country’s conquerors startingfrom Spanish to American invaders including the short Japanese occupation of our country. They defended and fought for the land where we live today. The fruit of their martyrdom is manifested by the freedom and independence we enjoy today. As a tribute to their sacrifices, we honor them as our local heroes even though they are not recognized and mentioned in history books. The Bureau on Cultural Heritage – ARMM (BCH – ARMM)through its linkage with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) aims to recognize and honor the individuals who unselfishly offered their lives for us. The Bureau also has the program on research and documentation which includes visiting historical sites in every province of the Autonomous Region. It gathers lists of landmarks and historical sites in the area although not yet officially recognized in the Barangay level.Through its partnership and coordination with the National Historical Commission on the Philippines, the Bureau will act as a coordinator to the Local Government Units in the area so that the identified landmarks by the NHCP will be recognized. Further, it looks forward to conducting activities that will commemorate in the unveiling of these landmarks as a national and locally approve and recognize cultural heritage of our country.

The following are landmarks approved by the NHCP that are not yet installed or unveiled. NHCP is looking forward on working with BCH – ARMM as linkage to the LGUs in the area to finally install the landmarks and for it to be recognize as historical sites and landmarks both nationally and locally.
